I have been following a blog avidly over the last few weeks that tells the story of a nine year old schoolgirl called Martha Payne.
The blog is just an internet version of what every school child does – look back with fondness over just how bad school dinners are.
I did it when I was a boy, I still remember the smell that signified the onset of the dreaded tapioca pudding.
Her blog – http://neverseconds.blogspot.nl – does the same but each day she takes pictures and rates the food for taste, overall look and how many strands of hair she finds in it as well as other less important things like nutritional value and value for money.
Yesterday she was removed from class in the middle of a lesson to visit the school’s headteacher who informed her that she would no longer be able to take pictures of the food for her blog.
There are plenty of ways to describe their decision:
* foolhardy
* ill thought out
* draconian
I could go on but I am sure you can think of many more than me.
I hope when young Martha grows up she becomes a councillor and lets Argyll and Bute council know just how she felt to be treated almost like a criminal.
